I’m glad you’ve found your way here.
Welcome to Live to Laugh! Now smile. And breathe.
Hi there, I’m Crystal Place. I’m the founder of Live to Laugh, and am a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader (CLYC) and Teacher (CLYT).
I was certified as a LY Leader, and then the higher level LY Teacher, by Dr. Madan Kataria and Mrs. Madhuri Kataria, the co-founders of Laughter Yoga, and love sharing and teaching the practice with others. I also enjoy sharing the deeply beneficial practice of meditation with my students. Both of these practices have brought more joy and wellness to my life than I can describe, and I truly love sharing this joy and wellness with others.
I want to welcome you warmly to my site, and invite you to ask any questions you may have along the way. In the meantime, I’ll share with you a bit about what we do here. Our organization brings Professional Laughter Yoga Workshops and Programs into places that need it most in communities around the world. We also provide certifications to individuals and groups. If you are interested in getting yourself, your staff or your group certified, hop on over here! Some of the settings we teach in include:
- Offices & Corporate Settings

In these and many other settings, people find the benefits of laughter to be incredibly helpful and effective. After their first Laughter Yoga experience, participants often (almost always) request more or regular Laughter Yoga Workshops, so they can continue to enjoy and reap the wonderful benefits laughter brings to their teams and to their own lives and bodies.
Take a peek at what this Cancer Hospital, Swedish Covenant, in Chicago thinks about it!
We have Certified Teachers and Leaders available regularly in Southern California, across New England and South Louisiana, but also instructors who travel worldwide to bring the joy of laughter and wellness to people all over the globe. Drop us a line to inquire about your location and Live to Laugh’s upcoming availability, or to schedule your staff or group to Get Certified!
Some of the areas that participants find the most substantial benefits are: stress reduction, increased productivity, better concentration in the workday and deeper sleep in the evening, greater health and wellness, lower blood pressure, strengthened immunity, improved teamwork and employee moral, quicker healing and recovery, improved work-life balance, increased confidence, innovation and creativity. Then, of course, there are all these other scientifically proven health benefits to enjoy as well!
So, what is Laughter Yoga?
Great question! Laughter Yoga is a unique group exercise that combines the wonderful health benefits of deep diaphragmatic (belly) laughter with yogic breathing. It was founded by medical Dr. Madan Kataria in Mumbai, India in 1995, while he was researching the scientific health benefits of laughter and writing a medical article titled Laughter is the Best Medicine. While he began with just 5 people in a park, there are now literally thousands of practicing laughter yoga groups in more than 100 countries around the world. Laughter Yoga does not require jokes, comedy or a sense of humor however, and whether the laughter is faked or real, the body still cashes in on the multiple physiological and psychological health benefits of the practice. People usually experience the positive effects after just one session of “laughing for no reason,” and the many scientific benefits often keep them coming back for more. (Oh, and of course for the joy of it too – because it makes us feel great)!
Media Attention: Growing like Wildfire
The practice and concept of Laughter Yoga is widely accepted and celebrated the world over, and has been written about in prestigious publications such as TIME Magazine, National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Discovery Channel, The Daily Telegraph (UK) and many others. Laughter Yoga has also been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, BBC, CNN, ZDF (Germany), NHK (Japan), ABC news, MSNBC and many other television networks around the world. It continues to garner praise and media attention regularly, and in some of the most professional (and perhaps unexpected) environments, as the participants bring the joy of laughter into their corporate workplaces, care facilities, group events and organizations.
